Laying a Spiritual Groundwork
Did you know there is an amazing asset at our church called the PHPC Foundation? If not, you are probably not alone. One of the foremost objectives of the Foundation Board this year is to increase awareness of what the Foundation is, how it works, how gifts to the foundation can be made, and how the funds are invested and managed.
The PHPC Foundation was established over thirty years ago by a group of visionaries whose goal was to enhance the church’s ongoing financial security and support its mission in the community. The assets in the Foundation have grown substantially over the years thanks to market appreciation, generous lifetime contributions by individuals and bequests from estates. A wonderful example of such a gift occurred just recently when long-time, dedicated church members William and Nancy Neary left a bequest to the Foundation within their will.
William and Nancy grew up in Dallas, met at Hillcrest High School, attended SMU together, and lived most of their adult lives in Richardson and North Dallas. They were members of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church from the early days and helped lay the groundwork for the church we have today. As their children, Bill & Fred Neary, shared in a letter to the Foundation,
“PHPC played a big role in the life of our family. It was the place for joyous weddings and solemn memorial services for well-loved family members. The live nativity scene at Christmas was a special family tradition and Rev. Manny Douglas was a friend and spiritual guide for both of them.”
When Bill & Fred learned of their late parents’ desire to continue the many blessings which the church bestowed upon them, they made a generous gift to the PHPC Foundation. Their hope was that the gift would help further the mission of the church.
If you, like the Nearys, choose to direct a legacy gift to PHPC as part of your will, or wish to name and designate support for specific programs or areas of interest during your lifetime, please consider the PHPC Foundation. You can be confident your gift will be invested and managed prudently, and that income and market appreciation will be distributed annually according to investment guidelines and your giving directive. All gifts are welcome and are tax-deductible.
