Friends,
It was a gift to welcome Brian McLaren to PHPC last Sunday. You should know that Brian shared, "PHPC is special; you all are so very warm and welcoming. PHPC sure gives Presbyterians a good name!" It is always a treat to hear visiting pastors reflect on their experience at Preston Hollow. Your commitment to God through PHPC is a gift to this world and makes a difference. Thank you for creating a place of belonging, welcome, and warmth in our community and beyond!
Two weeks ago, I was honored to represent PHPC at Forest Forward's groundbreaking of the Forest Theater. Forest Forward is a not-for-profit organization that exists to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty in the 75215 zip code through a wholistic community revitalization model through mixed-income housing, cradle-to-career educational pipeline, and community economic vitality. The Forest Theater redevelopment marks this important work's first phase. With sixty million dollars of the initial eighty million dollar capital raised, what was once a vision is now becoming a reality. Preston Hollow has been on the ground floor of this transformational work and shows that your generosity directly impacts our world.
I look forward to sharing more about this transformational work with you in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can learn more about this exciting project here: https://www.forestforward.com.
I look forward to preaching this Sunday and helping us see the places of transition in our lives as the very places of holiness. When we see the liminal spaces as the narthexes of our lives, we may see those seasons as passageways to deeper faith and belonging in God.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
With great hope,
Matthew
