Dear Congregation,
Over the past few weeks, you have likely noticed some heating and cooling issues on the south end of our building’s campus. There have been other aging property challenges you may not have seen, including a flooded basement, electrical issues, equipment failure, and more on both ends of the building. Last year, your Session directed the property committee to perform an assessment of the north end of our building and its structural condition. The Property Committee hired a local engineering firm, DC4, for the project and thus presented a five-year plan to remediate the building’s challenges last November.
At the same time, the Session has been working to renegotiate our longstanding agreement with Preston Hollow Presbyterian School. Dynamic property needs have come to the forefront in these negotiations and on February 7 the Session passed a motion to meet with the school, share the building needs and together with PHPS, develop a plan to work to address the issues in the north building.
For Session and the Property Committee, this feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to recommit – to recommit to each other, to recommit to our church and to recommit to creating a space where all belong to God and each other.
We plan to bring you an update in early summer. In the interim, we request and welcome your prayers.
Gratefully,
Allison Cochran
Executive Director
